Tunisia, Africa
Suprisingly Good Experience
I recently visited Tunis and spent a week in Gammarth during the World Summit on the Information Society. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect prior to the trip, but was pleasantly suprised to find friendly people, exotic surroundings, good food, nice beaches and cheap shopping.
Despite Air France losing my luggage on the way there & never finding it (don’t fly air france) I was able to overcome the misery of not having many personal belongings for the duration of the trip and managed to survive on very little.
Although it is considered to be a “police state” the country is very politically stable and the regime is supported by everyone I spoke to so security is not an issue.
The language barrier may be a problem for anyone that speaks English only as Arabic, French, Italian, Spanish and some German are more widely supported
