Why I recommend this place to locals
I recommended it because they had some neat little antique shops that are worth visiting if you live an hour or two away. I got some great antique books at one. Mmmm…

My grandmother lived here and I spent two weeks here helping to move her. If you visit, go to Po’ Folks restaurant. They have great food and are one of the few Po’ Folks still in business. At least… I hope they’re still in business.

The Amish culture is interesting! At the Golden Delight Bakery, Kalona Bakery, or Stringtown Grocery you can get tasty, fresh, made from scratch food!

It’s a small town. They have house Christian radio station there. The pictures are not from Brooklyn, Iowa. Obviously.

It’s worth it if you just want to go to a mall. Otherwise, there are no attractions. Iowa City is better.

My brother did a concert here. The people are very nice and it looks like a nice place to raise a family.

It’s a hole in the wall town. The only thing they got going for them is the crazy Captain Kirk thing they latched onto and a Casino’s going in soon.

I want to the Detroit BattleCry with an area youth group. There were about 38,000 people there! I felt God was really showing me about His love the whole time. It was so amazing. We heard speakers Steve Saint and Mincaye, Ron Luce, Mike Guzzardo, Lakita Garth, Miss America Erika Harold, and a Navy Seal. The singers were Delirious?, Cross Movement, KJ-52, TobyMac, Pillar, Jeremy Camp, and Michal Gungor Band. All were great, but there were some deep worship moments with Delirious? & MGB where we were just on our faces crying out before God, seeking His face. After I got home I got a confirmation about something I was asking God there from a letter from a Christian friend of mine sent, not knowing I even went there. It was truly life changing.
There were also “hug fests”. At the end of the weekend I felt so connected to people I didn’t even know. There were people standing around with signs that said, “Free Hugs!” and everyone would just come up to them and hug. It was awesome. I regret that I was so caught up in the moment I didn’t get that many BC pictures. Several people would just walk around hugging people or high fiving. I started to feel at the end I could talk to anybody there: they were all my siblings in Christ and I truly loved them. That was something I never had before I went to BC. Before I was concerned and cared about people, of course, but now it’s different. It feels wonderful and I can’t really explain it. I believe it came out of being reawakened to the love God has for us. They also held a rally at City Hall. America will never be the same. This generation is taken for Christ.

I have been to Pella a few times for touristy reasons and it’s a nice place to visit. It’s not a very exciting attraction, but if you are looking for a place to explore for a day, this is a nice one. The town has a dutch theme but the main attraction is the tulips. It’s a beautiful sight to see them in bloom all around the city. It would be mostly appreciated by middle aged to elderly although during the tulip fest, which I have never been to, youth may find it more exciting.
