Casa Batlló

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is my absolute favourite Gaudi building. He was so ahead of his time and saw to every detail of design. Definitely pay to see this place if you want to see incredible creativity made structural.

Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is a brilliant, brilliant modern art museum, and should not be missed by anyone visiting Madrid, even though the Prado etc. are more well-known. I stood in front of my favourite Chagall (‘The Rooster’) for about 20 minutes – very exciting.

Beechworth

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

My parents and I always spent a lot of holiday time in Beechworth – it was one of our favourite spots – so after my mum died, I wasn’t surprised that my dad announced he was moving here. I’m so grateful to have this place to escape to from Melbourne when the city gets too much and I need to restore my soul. Beechworth really is beautiful.

Ikebukuro

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Stay at Kimi Ryokan, which is five minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro station. It isn’t expensive but is very well-run and it’s also a great place to meet fellow travellers. (Bonus: they have a heated floor in their communal sitting area – lovely for those winter nights!)

National Museum Of Iceland

(in Iceland > Reykjavik > 101)

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is one of the best museums I have ever visited – it presents Iceland’s fascinating history in very innovative and interactive ways. I found it a bit hard to find, as it wasn’t well signposted when I was there in May 2005.
