After traveling around Africa for a month and being bombarded by at least one tout ever time we venture outside our room, we were totally taken back by the the locals – not only are they incredibly friendly, but they stand up for the tourists!

So many Americans and Europeans visit Egypt via a tour group… while this allows a visitor to catch the main sights, the coolest part about Egypt is doing all the stuff that’s outside the tour bus trek.

Grab a lonely planet book, go, talk to the locals, absorb tons, haggle, have fun.

Note of warning – very, very hot in the summer time. Travel with plenty of water.
