Amalfi

Worth visiting!

Amazing Coast, Stunning Beach

In Spring 2003, I traveled to the Amalfi Coast and it was amazing. The streets spiral down towards the water and are lined on both sides by unique markets. Shops fade away into restaurants as one closes in on the beach. The beach is actually small, rounded graphite-colored pebbles instead of sand. The restaurant some ten meters away from the coast’s edge has a killer linguini.

Tokyo

Low flying planes and high density

This city is intense. I loved every second of it. I wrote about it on my site, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin . I stayed in the Riga Royal Hotel for a few days as part of the Panasonic/Matsushita Summer Exchange program.

Kobe

Great Restaurants and Festivals

I went here a few times and the food was always great. At one festival I was among the masses who could not see the front row anywhere in sight. Then I made friends with a homeless man who let me sit upon his primitive cardboard bench that he had suredly constructed days prior to the parade. I wrote about it on my blog, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin

Himeji

Himeji Castle

The castle is beautiful, but you have to climb all the way to the top by foot. The top room is so high above the city that it was used as a sort of primitive refrigerator, as the wind cooled everything at the top. I mentioned it in some posts on my online journal, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin

Nara

Town of Tiny Deer

In 2001 I went to Nara for a few days and explored the town. I met a dutch girl there from The Hague and she and I bought a lot of the deer cookies and led twelve or so miniature deer onto a grass island behind the art museum. I wrote about it on my site, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin

Summer Job at Bodo's Bagels

I spent a summer working on The Corner at Bodo’s Bagels and wrote about it on my site, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin . I had an amazing time in the summer of 2005 here, the student atmosphere was amazing and the Mellow Mushroom ’s quiz nights were always a great place to hang out, drink, and eat pizza and subs.

Richmond

Worth visiting!

I taught at VCU

I have friends in Richmond and I taught a summer workshop for German students interested in immersion language acquisition here. The town is dirty, but the restaurant Carytown Burgers and Fries is absolutely irresistable. I ate there once a day for three weeks and wrote about it on my site, Noah Dylan Goldblatt Live from Berlin .
