Vancouver
Worth visiting!
The first time I went to this place — 4 months ago
was too short. We stayed 1 night and got on a boat north in the morning. What little we saw though was beautiful. I’ll spend a week next time.

A nice break from the commotion of Guadalajara.
Every once in a while I know I’m taking a good picture (so I think) because its right there in front of me. This conveys the peace I want to feel about this place. There might be something more interesting behind me though. There is about 5 feet of beach before a dirt & gravel parking area in a grove of weed trees. To right is a pier and past it is a long, well manicured park with about 5 people sitting at a few of the many tables. To the left in the shady grove is a small hotel, bar, cafe and a couple homes. An old woman has many colorful blankets, zerapes and what I’m going to call tapestries here (more like blankets but with designs that look like art for a wall) hanging on ropes strung between the trees. Beyond her on an open cement patio sitting barefoot on the ground in front of a crude, long rope loom is another woman, possibly her daughter, busy with another creation. There are very few people around and this was another picture I wanted to take, but thats the thing. Take.
When you get on the bus the guide gives you all the ins and outs of the places you’re going and what you might see. Take all the pictures you want but ask permission from any people if you want their picture. This woman didn’t look comfortable in her task, sitting on her feet, bent over this simple loom. It seemed more like the struggle of everyday existence for a family than a quaint, cultural attraction of a quiet little town. I couldn’t rationalize any permission the women may have given me so that I could take that moment in the hot shade of these two busy with their survival so I could have a visually appealing picture to share with others far away from this place. I would have felt guilty of stealing.
I do have 2 zerapes though and this story, it seems.

This is the only place you can get them so try one here.
