Smell of fields

I remember driving through Idaho at night with the car windows down, and smelling the fields—wheat, I think it was, or some sort of grain. It was an oddly wonderful smell. I hear it’s a beautiful state by day, and I’d like to return!

I made several trips there while in high school for debate tournaments. We went to Gulfport, and I remember stopping at a restaurant in Meridian on the way.

Quaint town

There are several good restaurants and shops, plus a great view! I spent a summer session at Duke Marine Lab, there on Piver’s Island.

Texas

Driving through

I drove through Texas on my way to Yellowstone the first time, took me two days! I went out of my way to find the town of Lesley (my first name), Texas, though, and that was a fun little adventure. Don’t feel the need to return to Texas for the most part, though I’ve heard Austin is a great city. I’d like to check it out sometime.

Brevard

Neat town!

I’ve been to Brevard several times, both for camp and driving though while on vacation. One of my favorite places is Sliding Rock, in Pisgah Forest.

I was passing through the city on a cross-country trip. Glad we saw it, but wouldn’t make a special trip.
