A very beautiful town. Romantic streets, extraordinary views and great food.
However, be careful for thieves. Take good care where you put your wallet and documents. I was robbed and witnessed 2 more people who got their wallets stolen.

Last time i went here was totaly unexpected. We visited the old town for just one night, walked all over the place, got a bit lost at one point, had a nice meal in little charming restaurant and went home.

I guess just wandering around and getting lost in the city brings out it’s true charm. You get to see all the tiny bridges, enterances and houses you can’t hope to encounter by “going somewhere”.

This time i went for new year. It was nice. Great spectacle on main square with too many people and way too many drunk people.
Also didn’t get much time for strolling around plus it was cold. But still it’s a beautifull city and gave a nice experience.

Visit Arashiyama if possible. The place took my breath away. Old buildings and temples. Very calm place with nice people. Great to escape from all day rush.

Near by there is also a park where monkeys roam around. You can feed them at hill top. There is also a very nice view of Arashiyama from there.

I’m astonished by the atmosphere this place gives. Small buildings, small streets, bridges instead crossing zebras, gondolas instead of cars, beautifull constructions… when it all sums up get a really great feeling that you are there.

Even if it was for only a day it’s worth experiencing it.
