A review of this place
I remember the food being bad even when I was little. It’s that bad! Anyhow, this was the coolest place on earth when I was little, but I can’t imagine enjoying it too much now.

It is rumored that this once-proud secret fort has turned into a small ring of old half-soil sticks.

Crystola is nestled beneath what my brother and I called “Turtle Mountain” when we were little, because it looked like a turtle whose head was retracting as you drove by.

Cripple Creek used to be a cute little town. There used to be a couple privately-owned restaurants that were run out of business when it turned into a gambling town. Now everything centers around the gambling, and all of the old original facades have been replaced by ugly, derivative casino facades. I have no interest in gambling, so I have trouble seeing any of this as an improvement over what it was in the past. Bummer.

I lived in and near Woodland Park while growing up. It’s situated in a beautiful area, but unfortunately the town itself lacks proper planning, so it’s not the most attractive place you could visit. If you do go, stop by the Donut Mill for yummy donuts and a bit of history.

I used to be a ride operator there. Working there wasn’t much different than being in high school.

Best nachos and beer in town. As someone else mentioned, the Java Porter is excellent. It’s also worth trying to Annapurna Amber. Most of the meals are good, but some are a bit on the plain side. Be prepared for a wait in the evenings. Now I’m hungry…

Worth visiting, but only for the food. It’s overrun by tons of annoying college students. Run as fast as you can to Amu for some authentic, traditional Japanese food; not sushi. The owner doesn’t make much profit as it’s mostly to educate.
