I’ve been there three times, and would always go there again. You find very different kinds of landscape from steep coast with rocks, lots of woods and fields to sandstrands in the south.
People are friendly and open minded towards tourists, as tourism is one of their main income sources. The doors of the historical churches aren’t locked or watched by guards as you would expect in other places. Many aspects of daily life seems to rely on trust here (which I find great).
special Tip: Take your bike with you, as nearly every little road and street has its own bikeway besides itself and the isle is only 35km in diameter.
special Tip II: Try the smoked fish…

I’ve lived here for several years back then while studying informatics. I enjoyed going into the clubs where lots of DJs provide you with your perferred music style. I still go there from time to time, and although my visits are mainly work-driven, I’m happy when I find the time to go into a cozy club or bar.
Almost forgot to mention: In Berlin there are also quite a few intresting museums and art galleries where you can spend hours of watching, reading, taking photos, inspiring or just relaxing: The Naturkundemuseum (museum of natural history) and the Pergamon-Museum are definitely worth a visit, to name just two of ‘em.

Templin is a city approx. 80km northeast to Berlin. It is famous for its medieval city wall and lies amidst an impressive scenery with lots of woods and lakes (the Uckermark)
If you should stay there, drop me a mail and I’ll see if we could have a chat (about the wheather or whatever…) and a cup of coffee or tea.
