An amazing place, but a bit on the smelly side.

the Ice bar (Subzero?) was, er, pretty cool – you get fitted out with arctic suits and drink vodka from tumblers made of ice.

in Deer Park. I loved the way the city centre is surrounded by the split river. Loved living close enough to walk into town and to work. Loved the Quay Co-op – great vegetarian food. And the Fransiscan Well – where they brew their own beer and you can sit out the back in the beer garden when it’s sunny.

This was the first stop on my Eastern Europe tour, and as such a bit overwhelming. Found in Vilnius strange mix of rich and poor.

Spent a few days there one September, stayed in Vernazza. Very relaxing and peaceful, not too touristy then.

I saw Boyz II Men live in Brasov, as the finale to a local band contest. There were heaps of locals out to watch the bands, but most of them left before the boyz came on stage, and then they were not very good. It was a very surreal moment. I’m sure they look back on it as a highlight of their career…
