The Temple Mount

Untitled

This place has seen a lot—it’s the site of the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque and it’s significant to Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. I don’t know, I just want to see a place that’s so important to these religions, a place that’s so contested and complicated.

Amsterdam

Untitled

It’s not so much that I want to smoke pot in front of police officers and hire prostitutes as it is that I want to see a place where these things happen. The Red Light District’s violent crime level is quite low, and I’d like to be able to offer that as proof when people tell me that I hate women because I’m in favor of the legalization of prostitution. Bah.

And besides, there’s more to Amsterdam than that district. It looks amazing in general. I just want to wander. I adore canals.

Troy

(in Turkey)
Untitled

I’m taking a class on whether the Trojan War was history or myth. I kind of feel like if I were standing there, even if I couldn’t see anything, I’d have to say history.

Univeristy of California - Berkeley

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I’m a second year student at Berkeley. I’ll be honest—it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, but for me, it’s more a matter of people than atmosphere. The campus itself is beautiful (“The Athens of the West”) and there are resources galore. The surrounding areas are interesting and diverse, but some Berkeley natives aren’t fond of students and make that known.

Oriole Park At Camden Yards

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I haven’t been to all that many baseball stadiums, to be completely honest (erm, about two, including this one), but Camden Yards is great! It’s beautiful, and I have no problem admitting that I never thought I’d say that about a sports venue.

Venezia

(in Italy > Veneto)
Untitled

I’ve been writing about the Bridge of Sighs since I was a senior in high school. I mean. It’s a city built on water. I want so badly to go to the Carnivale.

The Nile River

(in Egypt)

Worth visiting!

Untitled

We rented a faluca boat for an hour or so, manned by a little Bedouin. At one point, we crashed into a ferry, which was stressful and exciting! It’s so strange that you have a view of the pyramids on one side and a busy street with a TGIF or something on the other.

Tunisia

(in Africa)
Untitled

My dad almost moved to Tunisia a few years ago, but changed his plans (he ended up moving to Egypt instead, which was fine by me!), so I never got to visit. I’ve wanted to go since the moment he told me he was moving.

Bhutan

(in Asia)
Untitled

There’s this tiny, overpriced little Bhutanese shop in the Santa Monica mountains between Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. I want to have everything in it, but I want to have it all from Bhutan. I want to be a little old lady with a house filled with relics from all my travels in places people haven’t heard of.

I took an introductory Buddhism course in school this semester. I want to see it in action.

Morocco

(in Africa)
Untitled

This is silly, but I went to the fake Morocco in Disney’s Epcot Center and fell in love with that imitation. I imagine the real place will be very different. Dirtier and louder and…realer, for lack of a real word.
