Macau is a very cool place – perfect balance of history, food and fun! Catch taxis in between the tourist sites if you are on a time limit – they are everywhere and you will rarely pay more than HK/MOP$12 per ride. If you have the time, spend a night checking out the casinos. They are quite amazing, even just to observe!

If you are in HK to shop, the best time is definitely on the tail end of Chinese new year – as mentioned before, the sales are excellent, and it’s not too busy as everyone heads off to the mainland to celebrate.

If you go to Ocean Park, I would advise against setting a whole day aside – there aren’t that many things to see and unless the queues for the rides are long it will not take a whole day for you to see everything. The bus service from Admiralty is very convenient.

Lao is beautiful country and I have brought home some very fond memories of my time there – can’t wait to go back and see more. The people are friendly, the food is excellent and the scenery just has to be seen to be believed. Be sure to take a slow boat rather than the fast boat – in my opinion the slow boat is possibly the best way to take in the vast beauty of the countryside. Make sure to bring a jacket in winter, it can get quite chilly, even in Vientiane!
