I’ve been to many restaurants of this type where the show was spectacular, but the food just ok…. At Kobe in Vancouver on both occasions I’ve been there, the meal was the most memorable thing…. Certainly not your romantic getaway… but still, its amazing how private an experience dining at a group table can still be when you are there with someone special… And in a group of friends it is a completely different dining experience.

In describing it to others I find myself almost adding as an after thought “oh yeah… the chef’s are as skilled as any you will find in showmanship and style” and that’s the important point… a great dining experience that includes a show…. not a neat show that happens to end up putting food in front of you…

Only 39 locations strong… but well worth a short side trip to get to if you are anywhere close, this Hamburger chain does many things well…. In addition to one of my favorite cheeseburgers of all (The Tillimook Cheeseburger) they always have seasonal specials… I especially like the fall when the Huckleberry Milkshake is featured. ... but my latest drive from Vancouver to Powell’s in Portland gave me a chance to feast on the Rogue River Blue Cheese Burger… words cannot describe…. even a hamburger becomes a gourmet feast with the addition of blue cheese!

According to an article in the Guardian Unlimited, the Gibb River Road in the Kimberleys, Western Australia is one of the 5 best road trips in the world.

Apparently it is moslty 600km of dirt track (sccessible by 4×4)but gives fantastic views of gorges, waterfalls and of course the staple of mountain roads, sheer escarpments.
