Back from a hectic trip to Spain, on the Costa Brava, in some resort that nobody ever heard about.

I remember leaving the city on the 16th of June, unbearable heat. Was amazed to see a Pepsi costs 2 euros in the airport instead of 0.75 cents. Weird. Some bad ass queues in line for passports, double checking and a lot of paranoia from some fellow citizens. Whatever.
Landing in Spain was great. We had to wait another hour for some people who were lost in the airport and didn’t know where to find us. 27 degrees at 19:27 ~~

Everybody got so drunk on the first night I can’t remember what time it was when I went to sleep. Only thing that comes to my mind is yelling at people outside our room to get some fucking sleep instead of flashing their camera lights at us and then falling asleep like a rock. Wasted our saturday doing nothing at all, just to discover that the sand was so rough your feet were bound to hurt after 5 minutes of walking and the water deep enough for … . I left only to discover the swimming pool was 145cm deep. We said goodbye to each other :(
Sunday was Barcelona day – 130 euros by taxi or 4,4 euros by train. I was hoping El Corte Ingles or at least fnac would be open, not a chance. I should have known when they said “De opslag is gesloten op zondag”.

Unfortunately I only stopped to see the Sagrada Familia and the stadium museum for ‘Camp Nou’ (FC Barcelona). The stadium was closed to public so we didn’t actually see the inside of it. Walks by the Aquarium , the ‘MNAC’ (Museum for Contemporary Art). All in all, disappointed I couldn’t see more of it but happy at the alcohol units consumed in one week, probably more than 6 months of drinking in Romania. At least I had a delicious frappe with banana cream at Starbucks. That’s love!

Some other highlight was the boat cruise to Tossa del Mar. Noticed and also visited a very unconvetional museum for lighthouses. Think I payed 3 euros or 1,5 for it but it was wicked, among the most modern museums I’ve ever seen – which is surprising for something that doesn’t sound that attractive.

I did try to eat their food. Seriously, I did my best but I just couldn’t. It was crap – even the Sangria tasted awful (or maybe it was just me having tasted too much Baileys and other wines), sort of like orange and lemon juice with water.

My other days were neat, gave me the chance to relax a bit and take my mind off things. Saw my friends get drunk, get laid, sleep in the wrong rooms, start up fights with the germans because of the match and so and so on. A whole week of cheering for the World Cup matches, throwing each other in the swimming pool and getting lost and late in airports.

The place is in the building of the National Theatre (known here as TNB = Teatrul National Bucuresti, aka Teatrul National I. L. Caragiale).

During winter it’s always crowded starting from 5pm. Lots of high-school kids go there, you’re going to see loads of people with band t-shirts, hippies and other funky people, ad guys and people dressed up like crap.

I find their prices pretty unjustified, it’s supposed to be a low-price place to go (the students, the underaged people who go there …blabla) but actually it’s pretty expensive and the seats uncomfortable, whenever you want to sit down you might hit someone or get hurt…etc.

At the same price you can get a drink in a much more comfortable place. The music is OK, they usually have Massive Attack, Portishead, some punk rock from time to time, never heard any romanian music in there except concerts. But I’m definitely not going there only for the music.

Oh, and never ever eat there :D

The Corvinesti Castle and …that’s it o_O

Nice place, overcrowded with people, but beautiful. The Dome is always full of tourists ranging from Germans to Japanese. The food is awesome if you have a fetish for pasta and you’re lucky enough to find a place in a restaurant.

The traffic is annoying, full of bycicles and scooters, never enough parking places, always a huge mess. If you do find a parking space, the price will skin you alive, it’s around 14 euros per hour.
