We booked on our own excursion through X-Stream Cave Tubing http://belizecruiseexcursions.com/CaveTubingBelize.htm not through the cruise ship Norwegian Dream and had a blast!

We both loved our choice of resort to have our wedding. We’d do it all over again.

As an American I was lucky to visit here with my husband and his Mother in 2002 so she could see her Daughter and Grandchildren they left behind 37 years earlier.

We stayed at a Casa Particular a few houses from our family (Wasn’t permitted to stay with them) and lived as they lived. Bought stuff from the street merchants, etc. It was a job everyday to put a meal together. It was important to us to experience what they go through. And boy did we!

Discovered that my husband’s Grandfather was Rodolfo Hernandez Giro a famous Painter (see the photo), Sculptor and Teacher. His monuments are throughout the city (Plaza de Marta, etc) and his paintings are exhibited in the Bacardi Museum. This photo shows one of his paintings in the museum. My husband’s Uncle is Juan Emilo Giro who is a famous Painter from Spain and Cuba and his work is also in the Bacardi Museum.

It was very hard to see my husband’s once affluent family and beautiful family home but a mere shell of itself. Only memories remain of the life they once knew.
