    Not worth it!

A review of this place: Not that much to say  — 2 years ago

I was here for to nights. Had a ok time, but that wasnt because of the city but of the people I met there. The city really hasnt anyting to offer, besides an old town and a castle with a great view. It has the obligatory tourist street and a coupple of pretty buildings and a few monuments. But the locals are at best rude to tourists and it’s pretty hard to get by since so few knows a word of english.

The only thing that made it worth while was the hostel I stayed at, called juraj’s (http://www.hosteljuraj.sk). Met Juraj at the train station, and we stayed at his hostel which is the best I’ve ever stayed at. Clean rooms and bath, big kitchen, free internet and a really nice peaceful garden. If you for some reason are going to bratislava, you should stay at this hidden secret.

So beautiful!  — 2 years ago

Just went here on a daytrip with the train from bratislava, but what I had time to see was amazing. I took the metro to the center of the city and just went staring through the streets. Such a pretty city with all it’s buildings, statues and monuments. I was only on a 30 euro budget that day, and vienna isnt exactly a cheap city, so only got into one museum (to see klimt) but it was worth the 9 euros entrance fee. I wouldnt stay there since it’s so expensive, but if you have the chance I would recommend taking a daytrip.

    Worth visiting!

A review of this place: You should go  — 2 years ago

I just got back from Budapest and I had a great time there. I was only there for 6 nights, but had a blast. I stayed at this cheap hostel on the pestside which costs like 8 euros a night in a dorm, it’s called the downtown hostel and you can find it on hostelworld.com. It’s a rundown kind of place, but a great relaxed atmosphere, check-out time when you feel like it and the staff is great when you get to know them. They took us out one night and it was the best.

If you like water, go to the Szechenzyi baths in the city park on the pestside, a beautiful bath with over 7 different ones and a sauna. While you’re there check out rest of the park like the catsle and the heroes square.

If you like art, head down to the contemporary art museum down by the Lagymanyosi bridge (the red one) on the pestside. The free exhibition has some great works and theres even more to see if you pay. If you go there, don’t miss out on the concert hall next to it, it has a big fountain thing and a huge maze.

Also had a good, relaxing time on the little island in the danube called margit sziget by the margit bridge. All green and no cars go, great to get away from the city hazzle.

Before you leave budapest you shouldnt miss out on the beautiful view from the citadel (with the huge monument) on the top on the budaside – it’s breathtaking and it’s only a 10 min climb away.

    Enjoy!
