My-thai, Amarillo

yummmm!!

While we liveded in Amarillo for a while we loved getting to go out to this place. It’s a mom and pop type of joint. The food is wonderful and for the price you pay you get alot. Our favorites are the spring rolls, bankers delight, and the lemon chicken. But everything we’ve tried there has always been great. Enjoy!!

Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System, Alaska

Cruising Cheap!

Ever want to take a cruise? When we PCSed up to Fairbanks we took the ferry up. Even though we got a little seasick the first day we loved the view. The cabin we where in was small but comfortable for sleeping. There was only a snack shack conccession when we went back in 1994. If you love just watching scenery, wildlife, and the water you will love it. But remember you drive your vehical in the base of the ship or you walk on so this is basically a transport between continental and Alaska America. There is an observation room that has theater style chair for sleeping also, so a cabin is optional. You can go out on deck to get a in the middle of it all kind of feeling but we went in late October BRRRRR!! Do wear layers and be prepared for the weather. It can be extreme but at the same time beautiful. Enjoy!!

Carlsbad Caverns, Carlsbad

Slow and Steady

We took our Girl Scout Troop a few years back. They still talk about it when we start trip planning. We had a wonderful time. We hiked down and spent a great deal of time in the cavern areas. The hike was a bit of a mild workout for us old foggys, but we where having such an amazing time with stops every so often that we really didn’t notice much until we got to the depths. It’s so beautiful down there. It’s like your on another planet. And we took the elevator back up so no climbing upwards for us. Go if you get the chance it is well worth it!!
