This was our first stop on the Canadian portion of our month long trip. I was a bit disappointed. The town looked as if it had suffered through a long siege. I guess that is what winter must be like up there.

Once we got out of the city, the scenery was spectacular. Kapaka Falls, even with the reduced flow, is very beautiful. The fact that men portaged around these obstacles during the fur trade is an incredible testament to the endurance of the human spirit. I tried to picture making my way through this rugged landscape with a hundred pounds of gear and was humbled.

Why I want to go to this place

I really want to go here. I’ve really wanted to go here for quite a while.

It isn’t just the great surfing. This place has some really great spots (check out http://surfline.com/reports/report.cfm?id=5560 ), but also has the largest biodiversity in the world. In addition, it has more micro-climates than most other tropical locales.

I really want to spend a lot of time here.
