Interlaken

Worth visiting!

One of the most amazing places ever!!

I have traveled to Interlaken 2 times to camp and go whitewater rafting, and both times have been absolutely amazing!!! The drive into the town is somewhat difficult, the mountain pass takes about an hour and is VERY steep, make sure you get there before dark. We found a great campsite about 10 minutes outside of Interlaken called Stechelberg, it is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Located in a valley, you wake up each morning to the sound of waterfalls and the site of a beautiful glacier. The facilities are great (bring some euro change for a shower) and there is even a barbeque area 30 seconds down the road. In addition there is a cable car nearby as well as an awesome waterfall system inside of the mountain (definitely recommend seeing this)!! Pictures don’t do this place justice AT ALL, it is like a fairy tale!!

We went through Swissraft for our whitewater rafting and were not disappointed. The river was amazing, definitely an adrenaline rush, and the guides were very capable and personable. If I still lived in Europe i would go for a third time!!

Venezia

(in Italy > Veneto)

Worth visiting!

use the traghettos

If you arrive by train (Santa Lucia stop), it is best to either use the traghettos (ferry boats) to either get to, or get back from San Marco’s square. Depending on which route you take to the square (there are hundreds), it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to walk there. You do get to see the “real Venice” by walking, but it can be a long day if you walk everywhere. An hour ticket will run about 6 euro.

Definitely don’t eat anywhere near the train station or the square, it will cost you a fortune….Venice is already pricey enough. Definitely spend the Euro to feed the pigeons, it is a little crazy but definitely worth it! If you have a chance take a trip to the island of Murano, especially if you would like to buy blown glass. It is more expensive in Venice and you can’t be guaranteed that it is authentic.
