Around 14 years ago I went to Galway for a holiday. We had a beautiful cottage by the sea. We decided to have a boat trip to one of the islands. The deck of the boat was crowded with tourists as we left the harbour. Once we hit the open sea the open sea started coming over the boat in large quantities. I’m still not sure how I managed to get back inside whilst carrying my two year old son. He and my wife spent the entire trip throwing up.
When we eventually got off we went to wash up. By the time we were clean the boat had left (early), so we were stuck for 5 hours.
Five hours was too much. The island’s claim to fame is that it was covered in stones that have been moved to make dry stone walls. That’s pretty much all there is: stones.
My wife has this as her one entry on her list of places never to return to…
