How this place changed my life

I had family here and used to travel down wioth my Gran to visit – A nice little town, not too dis-similar to Halifax… Except Halifax is much greyer.

I’ve not been in over 10 years and think about the place often – I do intend on returning one day, I have unfinished business in the Octagan with a certain flower shop owner.

How this place changed my life

After spending the best part of 19 years in my back-water home town, I went to uni here.

I was blown away by the 24/7 attitude it has, always something going on, gigs, sport, festivals of some type – It was an eye opener for me to nopt have to worry about everyone knowing you – It was nice to walk from home to the city and not see anyone I knew…

5th avenue is one place that has etched itself on my grey matter – 50p a beer, good music and some nice rock chicks!!! It was this fine city that made me realise that I didn’t want to do what I was doing at uni, so I left and now I’m doing what i love and I haven’t looked back – I’ve al;ready gone and played there and that was fantastic – Like Liverpool, the locals have a fine grasp on what is good music.

I recommend checking out Deansgate, the gay village and f course, The Trafford centre – avoid Old Trafford and Eastlands.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I stay here a couple of times a year when I’m up in the N.E on business – It’s a beautiful place to stay, not only for the picture postcard place it is but also the people…

The castle is immense, I’ve only had the pleasure in the dark due to the time of year of my visits but it scares the crap out of me as does the Cathedral – In fact, ther is a little path up to the cathedral next to an Italian restaurant (sorry, can’t remember the name) but I was merrily sitting there as dusk approached and the silence is eerie, crazily eerie – I jumped at my own shadow then went and had a drink in “Brown Sugar” – Which has nothing to do with The Rolling Stones – I then bimbld down to “Chase” where after having a drink and reading the paper, I got accosted by some students and shown the sights of the place – Most fun you can have on a businss trip!!!

Go there!!!!

London

Why I recommend this place to visitors

London is my 3rd home – I used to have family down there and went 3/4 times a year from the age of 0 right through to about 16/17 – an amazing city to see, spend time in and to be a part of…

I miss the place but I will go back one day.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

It’s a great city – Lots to do and to see, I spent alo of he time down by Notre Dame the restaurants there are cracking – the Eiffel Tower is ok, it’s no Blackpool Tower, except the view from the top is better in Paris! – I did enjoy it and recommend it!!!

Liverpool

Worth visiting!

Cavern Club

I’ve had the pleasure of playing there – It’s hot, sweaty and dark… but it’s amazing fun, the Liverpudlians know their music and appreciate good music – I look forward to going back next year!

The Bayeux Tapestry

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: This is one old bit of kit...

The museum is a little sparse but who gives a monkey’s, I don’t – Only one thing worth seeing here and it;s the tapestry – Granted, the headphones I had were crap and broken so I had to go twice but as soon as you see the tapestry you get lost…

It’s amazing to think that people crafted it almost 1000 years ago, it’s incredibly humbling to think that it’s been here so long beore you arrive and will be here a long time after we leave.

The story you get told over the headphones isn’t anything we don’t know from history class but it’s so much more interesting being able to see the thing infront of you – right upto the enduring image of Harold with the arrow in his eye…

I highly recommend this amazing peice of cloth to anyone!!!!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I went twice when I was at school on a trip, that was over 10 years ago but I’m sure it won’t have changed all that much.

I recommend going straight to the top, get to the chapel, it’s an amazing sight from there, over the sand flats or over the land to Mont dol, beautiful scenery – The town itself is like a micro-Minas Tirith, it is aimed at tourists but I remember it clear as day and I’d like to go back one day (I hide an old Franc betwixt a brick and fossilised bishwop’s hat – I wanna see if it still there!)

Halifax

A review of this place: I'm from here...

Halifax…

Has connections to Hell and Hull apparently, I can’t see the resemblance to Hull but Hell I certainly can!!

To be fair it has a large aray of bars, hence the high level of drunken lunacy that goes on here, It has, amazingly 3 to 1 ratio: women – men, the males have plenty of choice, unlucky for the women though cos many of the men here are fat, drunk, chavs, pretty boys, hooligans, gay, CHAVS and uninteresting… (I include myself in whichever you fancy except chavs and gay)

The main plus point is the huge music scene, for such a small town it is slowly becoming a hotbed of talented bands/musicians, it only needs someone to come and harness this burgeoning talent to put the place on the music map.

The Area itself is actually nice, you know the whole “It’s not the place but the people in it” thing – It’s true here, we have some of the most striking Victorian Architecture you’ll see, the Masonic hall, the Piece Hall, The Town Hall (designed by the guy that did The Houses of Parliament) are 3 good examples – the gibbet is the oldest “guillotene” around – which was used long before the French got it – and of course we have Halifax Town FC. (falls over laughing) – Ok, we ain’t a football town really but the rugby team does well… (falls over laughing), ok, recently our teams haven’t been overly successful but they have in the past and HX R.L.F.C has quite a long, distinguished history.

So, to all you non-faxers, if you’re passing through this little industrial town, stop off, have a beer, then get a good kicking outside “Lush” for your troubles! – OR, come visit anyways, it’s not all that bad, if I didn’t live here I daresay I’d like to visit.

The Moon

Why I want to go to this place

I wanna go to the Moon cos I’m a pretty hefty chap – I live solely on McDonalds’ food, beer and bricks of lard – to go to the Moon would render me weightless without the poxy dieting or the exercising that is required to lose my rather bulbous belly.

Oh, and there is the whole seeing Earth from the outside, I’d like to see the planet at peace, hovering through the huge tub of ice-cream that is space.

Boy I’m hungry.
