Davis Theater, Lincoln Square
Great neighborhood theater
This place has gone through a lot of changes over the years, going from a decent, if unexciting neighborhood theater, to a real pit, and back again to a kind of cross between a good second-run place and an art house. There are something like four screens now, so the theaters are small, but the seats are big and comfy and rock back. The place is clean and the clientele is upscale (It’s down the street from the Old Town School of Folk Music.) There are a dozen or more eateries within walking distance. Today’s matinee of Brokeback Mountain cost us $5. How can you beat that?
It’s an easy walk from the brown line Western stop and Lincoln Square, and right on the Lincoln Ave. bus line.
