One year ago last week, my mom and I were in Matane to go salmon fishing in the Matane river. It was a first for mom, at 83 years old! She has always encouraged me to fish, since I was about 3-yrs old, so I wanted her to live this experience with me. She did not fish much because it is not easy to stand in running waters but she has enjoyed discovering fly fishing.

Personnally, I did not catch a salmon but I had the great privilege of seeing the salmon salute “salmo salar”. Your legs become suddenly very weak when you see that great fish and think for a second that it might take the fly…

Leaving in Dorval is very pleasant, except maybe for the noise if you happen to live in the Dorval – Trudeau Airport area and specially if the aircraft fly right over your house!

See this aircraft, it is right over my home! Well, you get used to it and the other advantages are far greater than this inconvenient. Really!

When I was just a kid, my father discovered this lake and decided that we would go there very often…I started going there when I was 5 yrs old and started fishing from the shore or the dock once it had been built. You would not believe how many fishes I have caught in that lake and the fun I had swimming or just floating on a cushion with my family. I would spend all my summers there and then later my parents went to live there all year round. It is the most beautiful place of peace and nature with a magnificient view on the Appalaches mountains and it is only about 20 minutes from the US border to Maine. There would be so much to say about the place. Maybe later.
