Worth visiting!
I lived in Ho Chi Minh for 10 months in 2002. It was fun, and a little crazy.
Not worth it!
I’ve never visited, I live in Nagoya. But it isn’t much of a tourist city, it’s very urban industrial.
Nagoyans think that their city is the most fashionable place in the country, but… mmm, I would perhaps agree that it is the most faddish place in the country [and it’s easy to know what the latest fad is because at least 40% of the young women are wearing the designated ‘stylish outfit’ on any given day here], but Tokyo has real style.
This is a very easy city to live in, the streets are in a grid and the transportation is good. Winter’s too cold and summer’s too hot. But the good thing about summer is there are usually a lot of outdoor musicians singing downtown, and sometimes you can catch a fireworks festival – fireworks aren’t so interesting for me, but there’s inevitably a parade of Japanese: young and old, male and female, wearing their yukattas (summer kimonos), which is spectacular, even though it’s not the ‘main attraction’ for locals :-)
