Worth visiting!
Juxtaposition
Durham is a really interesting little place. Its interesting, striking features (the Cathedral, Castle and river) are juxtaposed with its less interesting ones (an on the whole uninspiring town centre and non-visitor friendly access routes to the city as a whole from the rail station). What makes Durham fun is the ‘nook and crannie factor’. It seems pretty much anywhere outside of the city centre can be accessed via scenic paths or interesting snickleways. The Cathedral tower is also worth a climb for the windy views from the top! This is a city steeped in ecclesiastical and academic interest and is well worth a visit – especially if one prioritises the higher, ‘cathedral and castle precinct’ area.
