Grayling

Worth visiting!

Grew up there

I lived in Grayling from 1974 until 1989. Graduated from the one High School in the whole county in 1983. Worked at the Holiday Inn for several years. I had a very strange child hood growing up in the woods off of a dirt road off of a dirt road off of a dirt road and sharing that road with the National Guard tanks. Yes my road was the OLD tank trail. Oh and there was the time there was a 600 pound black bear on our deck—don’t forget the shells from the tanks zooming over head because about a mile from our house was the impact area for them. But it was beautiful up there. Skiing, both down hill and cross country in the winter and the state park were great. I would go visit but never live there again. It was too cold. LOL

St. Augustine

Worth visiting!

St. Augustine, where my best friend, in December 1994 and I went and...

...he became my boyfriend. We had been friends for 3 years before our visit to St. Augustine…. Just about an hour from Daytona up 95.

We were walking down by the river and it hit me like a 2×4 in the head…. I was in LOVE with this guy~ That is when I moved from Daytona to South Carolina in March. We were engaged in April and married December 2, 1995~ St. Augustine will ALWAYS be special to me. ALWAYS

Dahlonega

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Dahlonega GA was the place of the FIRST gold rush in US history. Dahlonega gold is about 98% pure and so much gold came out of here at one time that the US set up a mint for Gold coins.

There are still tons of gold in these hills, real mining and panning still goes one here but not to the extent as it did in the 1800s. There are several “Mines” you can visist as well as the Historic Gold Museum that is located in the town square. The most vistited mine is the area is the Consolodated Gold Mine and there they actually take you down into the old mine and you get a pan of sand to Pan - you usually do leave with a tiny bit of gold, but it is all good fun!

Florida

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

I lived in the Daytona Beach are three times in my life—the second time I met the guy who would be my husband. That was change number one…. then I moved to SC to marry him and lived there for a couple of years then we decided to move back to FL (The Daytona Area) and bought our first house (change number 2) then we had our beautiful daughter in 2004 (change number 3). We left Florida the spring of this year and moved to Georgia as the cost of livin there has gotten outragous. We practically had to give our house away. I would go visit but never live there again.
