My family scheduled a kayak tour of La Jolla caves, and it was a wonderful experience. We saw sea lions close up, and enjoyed the peaceful feeling of being on the water.

It seems there’s a surf or kayak shop on every corner… for good reason, because the beaches are fantastic. One surprise for me, though, was wading into the surf and having stingrays swim right up to me. I also didn’t expect to see so many jellyfish. (That’s a midwesterner for you.) ;)

One reason we love it is because of all the positive things they do for animals. Sea World does a lot of rehabilitation and research.

The San Diego park is clean, easy to get to, and filled with fun things to do and see. Get a behind-the-scenes tour and go back for a second day… it’s only a few dollars more. Well worth the money!

…but there are many more worthwhile places to visit.

Still, I kind of liked being able to experience 120 degree temperatures. When you sit outdoors at a restaurant, you get to be misted, as if you were a head of lettuce in the produce department at your favorite supermarket.

Instead of squirrels running aroud outside, you see lizards. (Cute ones!)

My grandmother lived in Springfield, so I’ve been there more times than I can count. The Lincoln-related attractions alone make it a worthwhile destination.

We spent a week with friends there. We had the beaches almost to ourselves, and it was lovely. I’d definitely go back.

The museums, the culture, the climate, the ocean! I’m not so sure it would be a great place to live, but visiting totally rocks.

The kids really enjoyed it, and going barefoot in the water was very refreshing in the heat.

Loved the view of the Mississippi and downtown.

I didn’t get to do tons of sightseeing, but I did enjoy walking around downtown and eating at a number of local restaurants. The weather was great while we were there (April).
