Casey's Carry Out Pizza

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

In small towns in the midwest you don’t often find a Dominos or Pizza Hut on every corner. But you may come across a Casey’s General Store and ordering and eating a pizza from Casey’s can be a pleasant experience. I recommend the double cheeseburger pizza. They sell gas and are a convenience store as well. And don’t forget the donuts. They are best in the morning.

Concordia

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Concordia, like many midwest towns was settled by a sizable German immigrant population during the mid 1800s. Many of them either came from the same or neigboring provinces of Germany or shared the same church. Concordia boasts a large Lutheran population.

Queen Mary

The last time I went to this place

It was in 1975. I went on the classic tour, heard the stories including the liner being used during WWII to transport troups to England. I believe my father-in-law may have sailed on this ship when he was transported to England before D-Day.
Previously, back in December, 1967, we went to the beach to watch the Queen Mary sail in. I think it was suppose to be her final voyage. All I remember about it was it was very cold, even for Southern California and even colder at the beach.

Blackwater

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Again. Someone is messing with things here. I’ve been to Blackwater, Missouri several times and none of the current photos are of this town.

Slater

Worth visiting!

Untitled

They are gearing up for Steve McQueen Day, March 29, 2009, already.

Chillicothe

The last time I went to this place

I found myself driving through there. I hadn’t been there in years.

Des Moines

The last time I went to this place

We drove through downtown Des Moines. There wasn’t much to see being the time of year (winter) but I did notice several Italian groceries and restaurants which indicated a sizable Italian population. I hope that any future visits are more productive.

Alligator Farm

Worth visiting!

Unfortunately

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. It has been gone since 1982. It used to be right across the street from Knott’s Berry Farm on La Palma Blvd in Buena Park, California. I lived in Buena Park until I was 10 and I guess the saying to true. You can never really go home again.

Mission San Luis Rey

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I visited this mission with my family when I was 10 year old shortly before we moved out of California. I built a model (with a little help from my mom) as a school project in the 4th grade.

Los Angeles

Worth visiting!

Untitled

What can I say? I was born in Anaheim and lived in Buena Park when I was a kid. I think I have been everywhere in LA at least once.
