Oceanview Breakers Apartments, West Side

Pricey, but a decent place to live.

I lived in this apartment complex during my Senior year of college, along with my girlfriend and another friend who I shared a room with. The place is fairly quaint and in a decent location close to a few bus routes (7/19/20), walking distance to the beach and the Boardwalk, and generally not far from campus. The staff always seemed fairly open and friendly, and they totally helped us out when we started desperately seaching for a place to live.

The rent is a bit steep ($2150 for 2BD/2BR), but if you have a small group of people who don’t mind living together it’s not too bad. There’s also a pool for the hot summers, and laundry facilities so you don’t have to drive to some all-night place when you run out of clothes. No work-out facilities, but if you go to UCSC you could always use the gym up on campus. No big deal.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend living here. It’s better than some of the other places I’ve heard about.

California, United States

Oh, California.

I’ve lived here my entire life, and as much as I’d like to get out for a couple of years to check out what else this world has to offer, I know I’m going to wind up coming right back soon afterwards.

I love this place.

Reading, Pennsylvania

Muh...

This is actually my mother’s hometown. Back in the 90s we’d go back every summer to visit the family living back there, and when I look back on those times, the most fun I probably had was playing the NES with my younger cousin.

Maybe it’s only because I was born in San Francisco and can’t stand small towns, but Reading just feels so ancient and stagnant to me. Just about every memory I have of the place is bad, and I really would not want to go back there anytime soon, if ever.

(Sorry, mom.)
