The Map Room, Bucktown

lots of different beers

This is a great low-key corner bar in the bucktown neighborhood of Chicago. I heard that it was rated one of the top 5 places in the country to have a beer, due to the fact that they have hundreds of different beers available, including 25-30 on tap at any given time. The walls are covered with maps, there are decades of National Geographic to browse as well as travel guides from many places and years. There’s also a couple pool tables in the back and tuesday night is international night where as long as you have a drink (or maybe it’s two) you can eat from a pretty decent buffet – every week is a different type of cuisine. If you are hungry any other night of the week, they also keep a binder of menus from nearby restaurants that will deliver to the bar. All in all, a great place to meet friends and drink beer.
