Cooper Landing, Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System

Hike the Russian River Falls trail. It’s very easy (almost no elevation gain) and takes you to some great falls where you can almost ALWAYS see bears fishing for salmon in the summer. I saw several there the last time I hiked it about a year ago.

Absolutely my favorite place in Alaska! So much to do and so many beautiful sites to see! For excellent pizza in a more formal atmosphere try Fat Olive’s, and for a more casual atmosphere there’s Starvin’ Marvin’s on the water. The first Friday of every month is the art crawl. All the galleries are open and usually there are hors de ouvres and wine. There’s some great fish and chips places along the spit too. I can’t wait to go back!

Also, take a fjords cruise through Resurrection Bay. The last time I went I saw some whales, seals, dall sheep, etc… Fantastic! If you get sea-sick, take some ginger pills.
