highly recommends the International Marketplace so I have to see it. In fact I chose a hotel that’s practically next door. We leave in a couple weeks!

The 43T meetup was held at Gordon Biersch last Thursday evening. I had the jambalaya, my hubby had the Tuscan Chicken Pasta, and both dishes were delicious. It was the first time I had had jambalaya on orzo pasta. I couldn’t readily identify every ingredient in every bite, and there were times when I said to myself “I don’t know what that is, but it’s sooo good!” I recommend the restaurant and the dish.

The photo does not go with this location. That photo is somewhere in England, not Seattle.

but the food is pretty decent and there’s no more affordable sit-down restaurant in downtown Seattle. A good place to have lunch with friends. Espeially since a few years ago when they banned smoking in restaurants.

I was just at Pike Place Market on Friday (January 30). A couple days before a coworker sent me a link to this story about the 40th anniversary of The Beatles’ last public live performance. That last concert was an impromptu rooftop performance in London to get footage for their film “Let It Be.”
A local Beatles cover band, Creme Tangerine, planned a recreation of the rooftop concert for noon on the anniversary here in Seattle. The location? On the rooftop of the Copacabana Restaurant right here in Pike Place Market. Ken Mansfield, who was the U.S. manager of The Beatles’ Apple Records and who was in attendance at the original performance attended this one as well. Of course I had to go!
Creme Tangerine did a great job recreating the concert, down to the same set list plus more. The concert lasted a little over an hour. It was cold out there, but people didn’t seem to mind. The music was amazing. I got some video which I haven’t yet had a chance to download. But I found this TV video from King5 online.
I feel fortunate to work just a few blocks from Pike Place Market so I can attend events like this when they come up!

It seems like when I was younger there were lots of old-fashioned pizza parlors around. Places you could go and get good pizza and spaghetti for not very much money. They were frequented by families and teenagers.
In my neighborhood the pizza parlor has all but vanished giving way to pizza delivered or taken out. The pizza restaurants that remain are more upscale.
I recently rediscovered Dirty Dave’s in Olympia. It opened on Martin Way when I was in high school in the 70’s. It was a popular place for young people then, and it turns out it still is! We went there a few weeks ago looking for a quick dinner before heading home to Seattle. We went back a couple weeks later. It brought back great memories for me. I went there a few times with buddies in high school.

The place has not changed much since it was first established in the 70’s. The walls and ceiling are COVERED in pop posters and pictures and memorabilia. The spaghetti is really good. Last time we tried the house special – the Gay 90s Pizza. We usually eat vegetarian pizza so I had forgotten how greasy pepperoni can be. For that reason we would choose a different pizza next time, but I must say the addition of cashews was inspired.
We’ll be back.

Thank you to my friend Agamum for suggesting we meet up at Mighty O Donuts so we could both meet each other and cross this “place” off our lists.
These donuts are really yummy and I would probably come back here even if they weren’t vegan and organic. But it’s nice to know these are made in a more healthy manner than donuts you get at the big chains.
Now that I know how tasty these donuts are I will have to come here with my husband from time to time.

I had lunch here a couple days ago with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. The food was delicious and the prices quite reasonable. I had the Greek Chicken Bowl which consisted of lemon and oregano marinated chicken breast, feta cheese, zucchini & red onions sautéed in garlic butter and served with a crisp greek romaine salad. They serve it with a fresh baked muffin of your choice (I had carrot raisin). The service was very friendly and ran after us out in the parking lot when we forgot something in the restaurant. I especially loved the decor of the place. It had a jazz theme, New Orleans style. If you get a chance to eat here, don’t turn it down.

I spent a good part of one day shopping here on our recent trip to Greensboro. It’s a great mall with lots of variety in stores. I found the place lives up to it’s name – “Friendly Center.”

I appreciated that this airport was much less crowded than the others I went through on my recent trip. No super long lines and everybody was friendly. Very nice.
