Rockaway Beach

Worth visiting!

Family

My boyfreinds grandparents live here. I was recently here on the 4th of july. It was great! they had a huge firework display while you sit on the beach and enjoy the fresh air! It was fantastic I was so stoked to be there at that point! the people that live thee are stingy like..I havent had good encounters with them especially a barrista at a coffee shop. The Flamingo jims place is pretty cool…they have a lot of junk packed into one builing..lots of odd things..seashels and such… There is a resturaunt I can’t remember the name sad..ive been to rockaway about 5 times now.. the resutraunt has cows all in the inside.. good food, resonably priced. My boyfreind and I go four wheeling a lot to there are lots of places you can go offroad including geo cashing!

North Bonneville

Worth visiting!

The north bonneville will excite you in spring...if you like fish!

I spent a good time of my summers with my father on the columbia river. Thanks to this damn the fish can spawn and keep this river populated. The dam has viewing rooms with colorful carpet that will excite small children or even yourself. The viewing rooms are getting old the last time I was there (I stop everytime I go see family) one of the windows was leaking. Which can be VERY SCARY. No worries the glass is inchs thick! YOu can see sturigion, chanook salmon, bottom feeders and even animals! time to time you may hear about a sea lion getting stuck or being seen in the viewing rooms. The workers at the dam take great pride in this place and have speakers time to time. There is a gift shop and tons of exibits located in the west end of the dam. You can go overlook the powerhouse (where the power is created for our electricity) its very cool! When the dam was being built a town was located undernith it at one point. The town had to leave, evacuate and move their homes to higher ground so they (the dam peoples) could make the dams pathway larger. Driving threw the gorge you will see local native indians fishing off “docs” its great and still a wounderful naturl beauty besides the fact that the dam is their and the town is gone.

Maryhill Museum

Worth visiting!

The gorge

I grew up in this area and I am a frequint re-visitor* My aunt worked at this museum for a while and she helped a lot with the traveling peices that they get she gave me a history lesson. Sam hill was a major person in the development on the Washington side of the gorge. He put money into the roads such as the Maryhill curves that have car races in the summer. Sam Hills ashs are located below the Stonehedge in a marble vault. There is a dress located in the main enterence given to sam hills museum from a queen dated back to the early 1900’s or late 1800s its gorgious and worth seing. Including a throne of chairs and mic. items. Not only is it closed in the winter but you can drive down and walk around in the yard. They have peacocks and lawn art from local and distant artists its gorgious! The museum is pricy for some people but its worth it! There is also a peice of art located across the River in Oregon a replica of the Museum and how it was made. The replica is made of string and metal! it is going to be taken down soon but its neat! very hard to get to! You need to cros at Biggs and travel the road passed Mc’ds and the gas stations. To the left there will be a road that goes up to a recyceling place. Its located within those gates to the recyceling area. GOOD LUCK!
