Washington, D.C., District of Columbia

Untitled

I had an amazing time. It was so much better (cleaner, friendlier, more accessible) than I imagined it would be.

Being able to take the Metro and/or walk everywhere was great. I envy DC’s public transportation, but I don’t envy its air quality and crowding.

I loved that most of the museums and attractions were free. The Spy Museum WAS worth paying for, though.

Seeing the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, seeing Dorothy’s shoes in the American History exhibits, and going to the Lincoln Memorial and standing where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood made history seem real and accessible to me. All of these things I’d seen in photographs, far away and kind of surreal, became alive.

I’m so glad I went, and I want to go back. :)

International Spy Museum, Penn Quarter

Untitled

I didn’t think I’d like it when we first went in (parts of it are kind of cheesy) but it was really interesting. It was actually worth paying to see.

Spaghetti Works, Omaha Old Market

Untitled

All-you-can-eat pasta, salad, garlic bread- yum! Spaghetti Works may be the reason that Omaha is classified as one of America’s fattest cities. :)
