ReBelle, Downtown

Untitled by Chet Gray

I was so excited to find out about a yarn shop so close to my dorm. Previously I had to trek out to the Stitch Niche for my knitting desires, or order them over the internet and wait. Now yarn and needles are just across the street!

As my parents still hadn’t mailed me the socks I’d been working on and left at home, I had a hankering to put something on the needles. I had my eye on a few glove patterns from Knitty, in particular the Broad Street Mittens. Lo and behold, it was Socktoberfest at ReBelle, and sock yarns were 10% off. I snagged 100g of a superwash wool blend in a neat multi-colored speckle and a set of double pointed needles (my other set of #2’s was back at home with the unfinished socks). Hoorah!

New York City, New York State

The first time I went to this place by Chet Gray

I was driving through NYC with my mom on our way to visit MIT. There was heavy traffic (who’da thunk it, right?), so it kinda sucked. As we trickled through, we listened to a Chinese radio station. In any case, that hardly counts as a visit, so this is still on my list.

Schulz's Florist, Schnitzelburg

Untitled by Chet Gray

Yesterday I went by to order a corsage for my girlfriend for her senior prom tomorrow. Her dress is white and black, and my vest is a dark-red-burgandy-maroon-mulberry color, so I got small white roses with dark-red berries as the primary elements. I ordered a wrist corsage, with the flowers on the actual band around the wrist, as when I’d gotten one of that sort for Cait for my senior prom last year she really liked it, and I think it looks much better than the flowers-on-elastic sort of thing.

I need to pick it up by Noon tomorrow, when they close.

Baxter Avenue Theatres, Tyler Park Neighborhood

Untitled by Chet Gray

I just got back from seeing The Da Vinci Code there with Caitlin. It was only decent as films go, but overall a fun story. I’ve not read the book, but I have read another of Dan Brown’s novels, and started twoothers, and his style is, as Cait put it, like a book written to be made into a movie.

On another note, it just so happened that I ran into Justin Schumann for the first time since probably last Summer or Spring. He was sitting two seats over from us the whole time, but I wasn’t entirely sure it was him until the movie ended. Cool stuff.

Crescent Hill, Louisville

Home Sweet Home by Chet Gray

I’ve lived in Crescent Hill for the majority of my life, since my family moved to Louisville when I was 5. We’ve moved twice since then, but both times within this wonderful neighborhood. No matter how much fun I have in the Highlands nor how much I enjoy the houses of Old Louisville, Crescent Hill will always be closest to my heart.
