I have wanted to go visit since I read about it in 9th grade history. I also want to visit the Tiger Temple in Thailand … SOON

A free bed (friend’s parents) awaits me and I’ve heard crazy things about the place—from the opulent mall to the reclamation resorts nad 7* hotel to the status of women. I want to see for myself.

The parents of my “Best friend” from school live here. They’re retiring and moving back to India by 2008. I have a year to make it to switzerland and get a free bed ;)

Do NOT stay at the LA VAIENCIA resort.
We had the most miserable experience there.
We had stayed 2 wonderful nights elsewhere but moved to La Vaiencia because of its proximity to the beach. BAD idea!

The owners were horrid. We got overcharged. They tried to cheat us in every possible way. They were rude. The place was dirty with unchanged sheets, unclean bathroom.

I cannot stress how much you simply need to avoid this place.

I remember when this was a humble one storey temple—and now it’s a multiplex! Worth seeing the queues on Tuesday and the believers who walk hours and hours barefoot every Monday night to commune with Vinayak… not worth going in, though

I also saw the Jain temple close by and the other 4 temples that form the Mahalaxmi area. The Hajji Ali mosque was also worth a visit.
