Milwaukee

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: visited in August 2006

I was very impressed with Milwaukee, especially the art museum and a little neighborhood in the vicinity of Brady & Arlington Streets. Have no idea what it’s called, but I enjoyed great food & wine there. There were also a lot of cute shops. We allowed ourselves 2 hours in the museum before it closed and wound up wishing we’d had more time. Pabst mansion (see attached photo) was also fun to explore a little bit.

I couldn’t have done it without the generosity of a friend who donated some frequent flyer miles and another friend who let me stay in her family’s summer house. I stayed in a 15th-century manor home in Treguier by myself for two weeks and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I don’t normally use phrases like “soul-searching” but that’s really what I did. My French language skills probably put me at about the level of a 5-year-old, so I could go shopping and wander around town but I didn’t feel comfortable conversing with strangers in cafes. That meant I was left to keep myself company. I made this trip at a time in my life where I needed to answer some really hard questions, and it did the trick

loved it! great food. beautiful scenery. had a good time on Granville Island. I was surprised at how expensive Vancouver was though. It’s not New York expensive, but it’s not Canada cheap…

Great food! Beautiful lakefront! I had a surprisingly fun time shopping at Sears, which was the fanciest Sears I’ve ever seen. I was not impressed by the Ontario Museum of Art.
