The Organ Mountains are a mountain range just to the east of Las Cruces, in southern New Mexico. They are volcanic in origin, and their name comes from their resemblance to pipes from a pipe organ. On the east side is the Aguirre Springs National Recreation Area which provides a lot of hiking opportunities. Popular places to hike on the west side include Dripping Springs and Soledad Canyon.

Every single time I have been to El Paso, I’ve nearly had a heart attack as a result of the way people drive there. I am not exaggerating…so maybe I have bad luck. Or maybe El Paso is cursed with bad drivers.

I’ve been to the refuge a few times, and each time was amazing. The birds are fascinating, and the landscape is so refreshing and different from other areas of New Mexico I’ve visited.
