I love Victoria! by cayce

I was very fortunate enough to obtain an Earthwatch grant to conduct fieldwork on possums in the mountains of Victoria. Forgive me but the name of the park escapes me now. It was breath-taking! I truly truly want to go back. I loved the park so much. The birds, the trees, plants, friendly people.. gosh..

Melbourne, Victoria

A river runs through it by cayce

My favourite bits: the royal (?) botanical gardens and the river, people hanging out by the river, street buskers, fresh strawberries!!

There were tons of second-hand bookstores around but the sad thing was that I couldn’t really find anything that I wanted. Which was rather surprisingly considering that I could really read anything. I guess I found out that no, I really couldn’t. Hee.

Fashionwise, it wasn’t that interesting but I didn’t go to places like St. Kilda, etc.. unfortunately. Got stuck at the main street where the malls were. Boo.

First time in a desert by cayce

And it was… surreal.

Definitely the opposite of the rainforests of Borneo. Which prolly would turn into a desert one day with the rampant logging that’s going on today. sigh

Free entrance to museums!! by cayce

I did a summer’s internship at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum – LOVE IT. One of my favourite experiences of all-time. I simply loved working and living in D.C. (although technically we were living in Virginia, and commuting to D.C. but no one really reads this anyway). Too bad I missed the spring blossoms..

One of my favourite memories was rolling down Capitol Hill. That was pre-Sept 11 though so methinks you can’t do that anymore… can you??

San Diego, San Diego County

I don't remember much... by cayce

to be honest.. my most vivid experience of San Diego was this homeless guy yelling at my kid brother (he was only six!!!!) for staring at him. It was a horrid moment. People were giving us sympathetic looks. My brother was just a kid for gosh sakes.. ain’t got that many homeless people sorting through garbage back home. Chill, dude.

Beijing, China

Everything's worth a first try, I guess by cayce

I have to admit.. I wavered on the “not worth it!” button… Beijing is NOT one of my favourite places – I don’t want to go back to it. It was rather horrid, the rude people, thick pollution, crowds, etc.. but what can I say.. at least I’ve been there.

And it was worth it! I travelled for two weeks around Bali but it wasn’t enough. I would love to go back.
