well, i’m goin to have to wait about er, 7 months, but come august I’m haulin my ass up to Canada – montreal here i come!

My mummy took me to Wien for my 21st birthday…and on my actual birthday we went to the ballet in the Staatsoper. it was fantastic. the seats weren’t bad considering we’d only got them a day in advance; the dancing was superb (bar one incredibly random (maybe ;conceptual’?) piece, and the building breathtaking. in the interval we stood outside on the balcony and admired the view (both of wien and the people in the audience)

my mummy took me to Vienna for my 21st birthday, so of course i’m going to have loved it.
we ended up in some random places, but that added to the magic of it! toll aber ein bisschen kalt fur mich, aber sehr schoen – ein fantastiche Geschenk!

i stayed on lantau, in the Youth Hostel there. Alone.

the first night there was a german guy called Geronimo. but he left. so i was alone, next to the buddha, in a forest. it was surreal

talk to Rich the captain of the MV Irene. He is amazing.

i’m torn. north conway was like the only place to go out near my camp. but it was so soulless and bland it wasn’t much fun

i loved it
i stayed in chelsea -the atmosphere was ace
i went to a baseball game (the yankees won :)
i did lots of touristy things
i even bought a little black dress from bloomingdales
i want to go again!

that;s what I discovered when I took a weekend break here over Easter. i never knew, and the fijian guy i’d gone with shook his head. silly brit. we went to the waterfalls which were beautiful. slid down the rock channels – scary. went to wairiki and waiyevo. watched many amazing sunrises and sunsets. ace*

yet it was only about 200m long.
a 45 minute truck ride from my village – to electricity, shops, Nobby’s dive shop, Marist – newspapers.

i lived on Ovalau for seven months, a school teacher in a small village school – if you’ve been to Ovalau, you know where the airstrip is? the village next to it. it changed my life.
that sounds extreme and sentimental but it’s true. it was hard. no electricity, no clean water, high humidity and temperatures, but wonderful kids. i want to go back…but will that ruin it for me>?
