Kalmar, Kalmar Län

Untitled

I was raised in a small village on Öland, and Kalmar was one of my first towns to visit. I spent many hours drinking tea and reading books in the cafés there when I was a teenager, walking around in the old part of town and visiting the Kalmar castle.

I lived in Kalmar when I was in my twenties, I got my first paycheck there, as a nurse’s aid.

It’s a beautiful town, well worth a visit.

St. Petersburg, Pinellas County

Untitled

I lived here for about a year and a half, I went to USF as an International Student (I’m Swedish), and it was my very first close encounter with a culture different from my own.

It made me humble, I learned that people are basically the same whether they live in Florida or Spain, we share the same worries and feelings.

It was interesting to live in a country politically different from my own, Sweden has been a social democracy (left wing) for many years, while the US is known for its market economy and right wing party.

Öland, Kalmar Län

I lived on Öland

Öland is a beautiful island. It has a beautiful and strange nature. Alot of artists have fallen in love with this island because of it’s tranquility and magic.

It’s called “Island of sun and winds” since the sun almost always shines on Öland, and the wind is strong, forcing the trees to become bent and wretched.
