Pamukkale

(in Turkey)

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

This place is just stunning. I think it’s worth the trip and I would try to go without a tour if possible. (as they are too structured and the time is so limited!) You’ll need more than 3 hours to take a dip in the hot springs and walk along the Travertines. It’s completely surreal.

Ephesus

(in Turkey > Izmir)

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

One of the best preserved ancient cities I’ve visited. Try to go early to avoid the crowds and the heat. The worst time to visit is when the cruise ships pull into port at Kusadasi. It was packed when we visited!

Morimoto

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

During my first trip to Philly, I saved up my travel money just for the Omakase dinner. (There’s also a lunch version of the Omakase which has fewer courses, but it’s definitely more affordable at half the price!)

But let me tell you, it’s worth the experience. The atmosphere, the plates, the food.. and seeing Chef Morimoto in person. I loved the black cod miso dish and the chinese style chilean sea bass. I found the rock shrimp tempura to be a bit heavy, but delicious nonetheless. It’s a good plate to share with people, but a bit much to eat by yourself!

I love this place! So much so that we ate here twice during my stay in Halifax. I had great food here and loved the atmosphere.

Isla Margarita

Not worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

It’s been 10 years since I’ve visited this island, but a lot of it was still under development. There wasn’t much to do other than lounge around, so I’d love to hear from someone who’s visited recently!

Torino

(in Italy > Piemonte)

Not worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I went to Torino for work-related reasons. (this was a few months before the Winter Olympics) Unfortunately, our only free day happened to be a Monday, which was when all the Museums/Galleries were closed. So there wasn’t much for us to do. As well, most of the city was still under construction at the time so it wasn’t a pretty sight. I’m sure that if we had more time, we would have enjoyed our stay a little more.

Chichen Itza

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

The drive from Cancun to Chichen was definitely an adventure—I would suggest paying the extra few pesos and taking the smooth express road all the way there. It’s definitely more reliable and you’ll get there faster.

The non-toll road to Chichen takes you through small villages which was amazing to see, but it’s definitely unpredictable. (road blocks, construction, etc.)

If they are still allowing people to climb El Castillo, you should do it! It’s an amazing experience. It CAN be extremely dangerous though, as there is nothing stopping you from falling down. Just be careful and take your time.

Las Vegas

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

I’ve been to Vegas twice. It’s gaudy, noisy, hot, over the top, and packed with tourists, but I love it. So many great restaurants are popping up in the Vegas area, which is heaven for foodies!

Skywalker Ranch

Worth visiting!

Skywalker Ranch in 2004

Had a few friends who work at ILM, so I was invited on a private tour of the place. We bumped into George Lucas 3 times on the property and went shopping at the Gift Store. (Yes, there is a gift store!)

Scotland

Why I want to go to this place

To visit my friend Andrea in Edinburgh. To visit my cousin in Aberdeen. To take in the sights, sounds and food.
