I ended up here on my 21st B-Day, due to my obsession with German Bier around that time. It did provide, but I have a memory of the proprietor being kinda a jerk about my underdeveloped vocabulary while trying to describe the kinda of beer I liked.

Ok, so I’ve technically been here, but crossing a bridge from Denmark doesn’t really count.
My family is mostly Swedish, and specifically from a small town in the north, near/in the Finnish border. I’ll have to track it down one of these days.
I think I’m saving my big Sweden trip for when my younger brothers are old enough to travel with me. It would be fantastic to find the gravestone of our great-great-great-grandmother (which I understand is decorated due to her service to the town).

I just got back. Once I got past the menacing security gate at the front, I immediately felt very comfortable. There were a couple sweet dogs running around as B and I sat drinking Rainier beers discussing the apartment we had just looked at on the floor above.
Simple, old-wood, straightforwardness. My kind of place.

This place is stinky and gross. Terrible gym. It’s usually over-crowded, which overwhelms the crappy ventilation system. The machines are sticky and grody, which makes sense, since they offer NO cleaning solution (like all other gyms), or towels.
The culture is also particularly unbearable. Jerks strutting around like a nature program. Inconsiderate assholes sweating all over the machines (did I mention there’s no cleaning supplies?).
The TV headphone system is broken on several of the machines, so even if you do want to watch some sports game, Golden Girls, or “Extreme Poker,” you’ll have to do so without audio.
All the employees that we’ve had to interact with have a distinct “not my problem” attitude.

I’m in limbo while I wait for the next day to come. My flight to Copenhagen leaves tomorrow evening. From there I will be going to Amsterdam, then Tuebingen (southern Germany), and onwards around the rest of Germany.
I’ve had months and months of excitement for this trip, and now that it’s so close, all I feel (finally) is a calm patience. Just got to make it through the next 24 hours.
