al-Qāhirah (Cairo), Egypt

Big disapointment...

Cairo is not at all worth seeing. :| It has some gems hidden well inside it, but for the most part is this dirty chaotic city with rude people only trying to trick you into walking in some papyrus shop…

Like I said, there are some gems there… the Al-Azhar park is one of them. As, pretty much, the only green spot in smoggy Cairo, any time spent in it is a pleasurable experience.

The pyramids are worth having a look, of course. The sheer size of them and the fact that no bulldozers or any lifting equipment were even invented at the time makes it some of the most amazing sights to be seen.

Not breathtaking as, for example, Petra in Jordan but well worth seeing. The best view of them was actually inside Pizza Hut… no pesky touts trying to sell you overpriced tacky souvenirs, cool and safe food to eat.

The Egyptian Museum is another big deception… so much history in such small space and no history or tags whatsoever. If you are a die hard egyptologist, that museum is wonderland… otherwise it has very little information about anything on exhibition. Tuthankamon jewelry is a show within the show and makes up for the ticket price.

And by the way… AK47s are plenty around the city… it’s impossible to miss them if you go through museums, banks, etc, etc…

Singapore, Asia

Untitled

I was re-routed from Korea to Singapore to take a boat to Mauritius and I was amazed with it.

Despite spending only one day there, I saw amazing things.

The most amazing was to see on the same street a Mosque, a chinese temple and an hindu temple. Just incredible!
