Worth visiting, but I was unimpressed.

There were chains everywhere, and it was the least favorite place I visited on my recent trip to Europe.

Paris, Ile de France

I can't wait to go back.

I saw Paris for the first time in November 2004, and even despite an incident with the French Police, it was my favorite of the places I visited on that trip (Amsterdam, Brussels, Ghent, and Cologne). I can’t adequately sum up what was so fantastic about the place, and even despite the fact that Paris hosted the least friendly people on my trip, I still left entertaining fantasies about moving there some day.

Absolutely explore the metro. It was probably what made me like Paris so much relative to the other cities.

Lake Isabella, Kern County

A better option than Bakersfield.

If you’re in Bakersfield for a summer weekend, consider checking out Lake Isabella instead. At the very least, they’ve got some nice white water rafting options.
