Srilanka is a beautiful island set in the Indian Ocean. The beaches are gorgeous – white sands and shallo turqouise blue water that as far as your eye can see. The climate is hot around the coast, but a short (2 hour) train ride, and you are in Mountain country where the climate is almost Mediterranean like.

The food is spectacular – flavorful curries and fresh fruits. The seafood is fresh – lobster, shrimp, fish are staples. And the cost of living is low compared to western standards.

If not for the civil war, this place would be considered paradise on earth.

Riod de Janeiro is a city tucked in paradise. Beautiful beaches, rolling mountains, gorgeous people, and titilating cuisine. I was there for Carnival 2005. The people in this city (country) know how to party. They surrender themselves to Samba – the thumping rhythm of drum beats.

People always scare you by calling out that Rio is highly dangerous. Every city has parts where noone should walk alone at night with a camera dangling around their neck, and speaking a foreign language. You just have to exhibit common sense and you will be fine.

You would need a good 10 days to enjoy the city, let alone all the expeditions around it. For those of you who are on the paler side, please get a tan. These Cariocas take care of their body, skin and are very fashioniable
