Green Lake District

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

If you want coffee on the east end of the lake, skip the giant Starbucks. Instead go to Revolutions – it’s about a block away, across the street from Gregg’s Cycles.

Dick's Drive-In on Broadway

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Always bring cash, because they don’t take checks or credit cards. A Dick’s Deluxe with fries and a shake is definitely a very important part of the real Seattle experience.

Dick’s on Broadway is probably the only thing I really miss about living on Capitol Hill. Then again, being farther away from Dick’s is probably part of why I’m losing weight.

Egyptian Theatre

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

The best midnight movies in town. I took Brooke to see Evil Dead 2 for the first time at a midnight showing in the Egyptian.

Capitol Hill

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Go to the Broadway Grill for Sunday brunch. That is all. Thank you and good night.

Belltown

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Belltown used to be a very economically depressed part of town. Nowadays there are a lot of condos and trendy clubs, but they haven’t quite managed to get rid of the homeless people. Somehow I don’t think they’re going to do it by building homes that cost half a million dollars to own. So anyways, be ready for an interesting and very sharp split in the kind of folks you’ll meet there: youngish folk dressed in the newest, most expensive clothes, and street people layered in garb from the nearest Salvation army.

Japan

(in Asia)
Hey, Maybe!

There is the possibility that I might get a contract job in Tokyo. Of course, it may or may not happen, but the very possibility has me excited to no end!

Nevada

Worth visiting!

Reno is nice, at least

Large chunks of the state are unpleasant places to be, but hey – I liked living in Reno. Lots of fun, quite a few pleasant freaks, but more low-key than Las Vegas. Much more low-key.

Idaho

Not worth visiting!

I hear northern Idaho is lovely

Southern Idaho, not so much. Especially around the Air Force Base. Boring place for a kid to be stuck for a few years, let me tell you!
