Paris On The Platte

The last time I went to this place

Just a week ago for the first time in 5 years. It seemed like the crowd had definately changed and the prices went up. Would I go again? Probably not. But their Chai Tea is pretty hard to beat anywhere else. I miss the old bookstore that was next door too.

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Not Very Interesting

Didn’t really seem like much of a college town but more like a small agricutltural/ blue collar city. I was here for a week and it didn’t impress me much. If your looking for more culture or diversity as far as midwestern college towns go, then try Boulder, Co or Lawrence, Ks.

Abilene

Not worth visiting!

This town looks like it's decaying!

I’d never seen so much trash and borded up storefronts until I visited Abilene. What really shocked me was the fact that there are over 100,000 people living here. It seemed more like a town of 45,000. Needless to say, I wasn’t impressed. I’m sure it was alot nicer at one time.

Mount Vernon

Worth visiting!

Have family here

Used to go to Mt. Vernon when I was a kid to visit my distant relatives. I remember how pretty and clear the Skagit River was. It was always nice going there during the summer because that was the least wettest time of year there.

Lawrence

Worth visiting!

I grew up here!

OK, so maybe I’m biased because I grew up here since I was 10, but I think most people would agree that Lawrence is a nice town. Came from another town in Kansas so this was a big change for me at first. But Lawrence is truly a cosmopolitan place for Kansas. Lot’s of independent coffee shops, bookstores, and plenty of good live music (NY Times voted Lawrence “the most vital music scene between Chicago and Denver) But if you are really ultra-conservative or don’t appreciate different types of culture, then Lawrence is probably not a good place to visit.
