Munich

I’ve been to Munich, though relatively briefly. When we got there, Bayern Munich had just won the Bundesliga (again), and there was a huge party. We have friends who live just 20 minutes south of the city in a little Berg, from where the view of the Alps was breathtaking.

I loved Munich. The atmosphere is very Bavarian (read festive), the Weisbier is the best i’ve had, and it’s probably got the most efficient metro/train system I’ve seen thus far.

Venice, Tuscanny

I went to Venice, Rome, and throughout Tuscanny (Sienna, Florence, the Chianti and surrounding regions, as well as the more southern regions such as Montepulciano, etc.). In Tuscanny, we stayed at a beautiful remote villa near a small village 20 minutes south of Sienna called Corsano.

My advice for Italy is do checkout the bigger and famous cities (i.e., Venice, Rome, Florence, etc.), but be warned that they are very Touristy. So bring a good guide and stay away from tourist traps. Despite the tourists, they are more than worth seeing.

If you visit a more remote area, a car is pretty much essential, and this is how you’ll have the best time anyway, since it allows you to really go to those special and not-so-touristy places (e.g., natural hot water springs — bagnas, vineyards, midieval villages, etc.)

Italy, Europe

Booked and ready to go!

Yay! Booked flight with Eileen… May 12 headed to Munich, will hang out in Europe for 1 week (somewhere around Munich and perhaps other places) and then do Italy the next week. Will mainly focus around Florence area but will drop into Venice and maybe Rome too.
